Vietnam: leave space between the city and the coast
From Da Nang and Hoi An to a day in a busy city, clear transport and pricing details help you travel at your own pace.

Treat an intercity journey as part of the day
Even when combining Da Nang and Hoi An, check the complete hotel-to-hotel travel time. When connecting distant cities such as Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, avoid packing sightseeing tightly around flights or trains.
Check the pickup and the vehicle arrangement
For a taxi or ride service, check the identified vehicle and destination before boarding. If booking a vehicle with your guide, confirm waiting time, luggage space, return travel and whether parking is included.
Read both the amount and the currency
Take a moment to count the digits in a VND amount and check the currency shown on menus or quotes. At markets or optional activities, confirm quantity and total before ordering, and ask which payment methods are accepted.
Plan around local weather and food preferences
Weather can differ between regions on the same dates, so check each destination's forecast. Include indoor breaks between outdoor walks, and tell your guide about food restrictions and the need for a rain alternative.
Check entry against your passport and this itinerary
Even if you previously visited without a visa, recheck the conditions for this stay and purpose. If a visa is needed, use the official electronic-visa route identified by Vietnam's immigration authority to check eligibility and entry points. Before departure, compare your passport name, arrival date and departure plan with your booking documents.
Get connected before the first transfer
Before leaving the airport for your hotel, confirm your data connection and how to contact the pickup provider. Show the Vietnamese address as well as the hotel name and check that it is the correct branch. Start any first-day guiding after luggage arrangements, and agree on how to report flight delays.
Check the official guidance
Entry requirements, opening hours and prices can change. Recheck the official guidance before departure.
